Optreden van de band 4 Acres

I have made a starter-app which starts the Yaoqiang BPMN Editor .jar-file. It's only meant for use with the Mac OS X dock, because you can't position a .jar-file in the application section of the dock.

Get to the hard disk of an iMac (2008)
I made a 'step-by-step' guide of a way to open an iMac to take the hard disk out. Without disk, I could send the iMac in for repairs and not worry about data loss or information going somewhere where it should not be.

Herbal liqueurs from Bärwurzerei Hieke Zwiesel in Germany
I recently got a present from a good colleague. It was a package with three jars with different tasting German herbal liqueurs from Bärwurzerei Hieke Zwiesel.
The reason I write about them is simply because I only knew the standard brownish herbal liqueurs - I have never tasted something like these before. These taste super! Here they are... give'm a try.

Berlin
End october 2010 my wife and I went to Berlin where I attended the Lasso Developer Conference 2010 (see previous post). We planned a long weekend so we could see something of the famous city. I have never been there before! We had such a nice weather, it really was amazing.
Via a tip of a good friend of ours, we booked an apartment, instead of a hotel, via Airbnb. I found a very nice apartment, right in Berlin Mitte. The photo's on the Airbnb site show exactly how the apartment is. But it also has a balcony where we had our breakfast every morning! On top of all this, the apartment also offers a DSL internet connection for free - wifi or cable. By renting an apartment, we could spend our money during the day and cook for ourselves at the apartment.
I made a panorama of the living room:
and here's a shot of the nice balcony:
It was soo quiet in Berlin Mitte, you hardly imagine yourself in the middle of a mega city. I can really recommend this and I would certainly rent it again when we go back - I haven't seen all of Berlin yet. We only did the major touristic stuff by foot and bike. Funny, look at the shape of the route we took:

At the Lasso Developer Conference 2010
The Euro Lasso Developer Conference 2010 was held in Berlin on 30 and 31 of october 2010 @ GLS Campus Berlin. Organized by ANU Internet Services, this was a great idea and happening. The brand new Lasso 9 was discussed very much; various demos and presentations of code and sites built with Lasso 9. LassoSoft announced they found an investor and were getting back on track! Only good news - of course!
It was nice to meet fellow developers who I normally only have contact with by reading and posting to mailing lists.
Thanks to Chris Wik from ANU for his spontaneous idea and rapid put-together of a well done DevCon!

Ansichtkaarten
Ik ben een nieuwe pagina gestart waarop ik al onze zelfgemaakte ansicht- en wenskaarten ga plaatsen. Ik pas de kaarten na eigen gebruik aan zodat ze algemeen toepasbare zijn. Van sommige heb ik de Photoshop file ook beschikbaar gesteld en die bevinden zich in de download link. Dus ... als je op Ameland zit of eens een andere kerst- of nieuwjaarskaart zoekt, kijk hier dan eens.

Verbruiksstatistiek van onze Volvo 240 Station
Na talloze reparaties dacht ik dat ik maar weer eens een verbruiksstatistiekje bij moest gaan houden om te kijken of de reparaties de investering wel waard zijn geweest. En jawel, het ding, een Volvo 240 Station uit 1991, haalt nu 1 kilometer per liter meer! Dat levert per jaar een besparing op van rond de 190 euro bij 12.000 km/jaar! Na, dan moet ik de auto nog 6 jaar blijven rijden....
De auto is deze tijd in gebruik geweest voor woon/werk, hond uit laten, weekendtrips, etc.. De snelheid was wisselend lager, gelijk of hoger dan de maximaal toegestane.
Hieronder volgen de gegevens met grafiek, waarin duidelijk wordt dat het geen reet uitmaakt wat je tankt en wanneer je tankt en hoe je rijdt met deze auto - het verbruik varieert nauwelijks.
De rode getallen onderaan de kolommen zijn gemiddelden van de waarden in de kolom. De kosten per kilometer zijn gebaseerd op de waarde van de volle tank. De waarde van een volle tank bestaat namelijk uit de restwaarde van de nog aanwezige benzine + de nieuwwaarde van de net getankte benzine. Uitgaande van het gemiddelde aantal kilometers wat uit een tank gaat, heb je zo ook steeds een gemiddelde prijs per liter. Daar kan je dan weer de afwijkingen van meten met de werkelijke prijs. Hetzelfde is gedaan met de kosten per kilometer.

De Saint 0037 - De Saint en het levende lijk
Zo, daar ga ik elke maand een gescand boek op de site zetten voor download. Eerst al mijn Saint pockets; en ik heb ze allemaal!
Ik scan de Saints in willekeurige volgorde, ik grijp er gewoon één uit de boekenkast, scan'm en breng'm met ander spul naar een tweedehands winkel. Zo raakt mijn harde schijf vol en de boekenkast leeg. Omgerekend naar kosten is de ruimte die de boekenkast inneemt véél, nee, mega duurder; dus alleen maar voordeel!
Wat kan je met de zip? Openen in een ComicBook reader. Zie bijvoorbeeld deze blogpost (ik ben echter alweer overgestapt naar ComicZeal - uiteindelijk veel en veel beter). Je kan het bestand ook unzippen, dan krijg je een rits genummerde jpg's die je overal mee kunt openen.

Use OpenMeta to find files in OS X's Finder
The Finder supports OpenMeta in its search options. To have the possibility at hand, you must add the option to the menu first. Otherwise you have to select it first, every time you open a search in the Finder. To add Tags to the options menu, take the following steps:
1) Open a new finder window
2) Enter search mode.
The default is to search in the contents of files, but... when you hold down the shift key with the menu open, the Find item changes into Find by Name...
3) Open the 'Kind' menu by clicking on it and choose 'Other...'
4) Tags
Scroll down or type 'meta' in the search field and look for the entry named 'Tags'. Check the box in the column 'In Menu' and click OK.
5) Search using Tags
When you leave the search field blank, 'Contents' or 'File Name' are not used in the search.
With Tags-search, you can enter multiple keywords, separated by a space.
If you want to use a command line tool to write metadata to files yourself, you can download an installer right here.
If you are looking for GUI clients, look here.
