Shell Helpt boekjes

Dankzij een zeer vriendelijke website bezoeker, heb ik nu ook de Shell Helpt-boekjes 14 t/m 23 (behalve deel 19) en een Motorfiets-special 'Wat je moet weten voor je op een motor stapt' in mijn bezit gekregen. Ik heb ze ingescand en aan de verzameling toegevoegd.



Ze zijn, net als deeltjes 1 t/m 13, ook individueel te downloaden als PDF of ZIP met JPG's.

Fraudulent buyers on Marktplaats

I had an iPhone for sale on Marktplaats.nl for €280. Last week a bid came for the exact amount. So I thought, hey, cool!

In a message, the buyer wrote that (s)he would pay asap via Paypal and 'add an extra €50 for shipping'. I answered the next day and asked where to send the iPhone to. The answer was 'abroad'.
Sidenote: communication was in English, not in Dutch. So duh, I knew it would go abroad.

The next day she asked for my Paypal name and again said (s)he would pay 'asap'. That was the 3rd day - so far for 'asap'.
I said that (s)he only needs my e-mail address for Paypal and I gave it.

A day later (s)he would be paying again 'asap' and asked again for my Paypal name. So I typed my name.
And I added that I would send the iPhone to the address mentioned in the Paypal-payment - whenever that payment would come.

(S)he answered 'yes' and that was it. Never heard of them again and the next day, the anti-scam robot of Marktplaats removed the fraudulent account and all their biddings.

So I googled a bit why someone would 'add another 50 bucks for shipping' and I came across the so-called 'overpayment scam'.
I know some one who works at Paypal as a security officer and I asked him what this exactly is and how the swindler would benefit.

His answer:

The overpayment scam is where the buyer overpays for the item, then requests you refund the overpayment via wire transfer or Western Union (or a similar non-revocable payment method). Sometimes the payment is real, but uses stolen funds, and other times the payment is fake – i.e. the fraudster sends a spoofed PayPal email to the seller telling them they have funds. So ALWAYS check you actual Paypal account for received payments.

It could be the fraudster doesn't care about whatever it is you're selling and doesn't care that you're shipping the item to the victim, they may be only after the refund.

Likely the buyer was going to have someone pickup the item in person, and have you pay them the overage amount in cash. The payment would have been legitimate in that case because PayPal doesn't protect sellers if they don't have a tracking number.
The buyer can claim you did not give them the item, and if you handed it to them in person, you won't have a tracking number and PayPal will side with the buyer.

Never arrange to deliver an item in person, ALWAYS ship it with a tracking number.
Or if you want to do an in-person deal, refund their payment via PayPal, and have them bring cash when they pick it up.

There are a variety of ways a scammer can get you, so it's best to read through the rules and make sure you adhere to them to prevent losing seller protection from Marktplaats and PayPal.

So, keep this in mind when you have a bidder/buyer who promises you all the money you want for an item you have for sale.

Jean Michel Jarre 2016

I finally got around to put my movies and photos of the Jean Michel Jarre 2016 concert together in a few movies. I uploaded them to my Youtube channel and embedded the links on a new Fotoshop-page .



This was really an experience - the music and the effects were amazing. I am a fan of his since the 1980's, so hey, memory-lane!

Using the 'burst'-feature of the iPhone, together with the app Burstio, I created some nice animated GIFs, which you can see all on the new Fotoshop-page.

Ofenkartoffel bei Le Café in Ingolstadt

Als wir in Ingolstadt waren um familie zu besuchen, haben wir ein restaurant gesucht in die nähe von unser hotel und sind bei Bistro & Restaurant Le Café gelandet, weil die eine schöne terrasse hat wo man draussen essen kann.
Die ambiance ist total ok, die bedienung war sehr freundlich und geduldig, und deswegen haben wir dort einen sehr schönen abend gehabt.

Ich wollte jetzt mal kein lappen fleisch oder wieder mal ein bauernsalat oder pizza essen, und so fiel mein äuge auf ein ofenkartoffel 'Barbecue'. Ofenkartoffel .. hmmm .. das war mal wieder was anderes und ich kannte das noch von früher, als meine mutter sie gekocht hat. Also, bestellt und es hat mich wirklich überraschend gut geschmeckt!


Also, wenn sie mal in Ingolstadt sind ist Le Café bestimmt ein besuch wert.

Het is alweer even geleden dat wij bij toeval terechtkwamen bij Bommels' Eten • Drinken in Velp. Het wordt gerund door een ex-slager die in zijn geboortehuis, waarin eerst een slagerij zat, een restaurant is begonnen. Wat een aardige en vriendelijke man!
En dat hij ex-slager is, dat merk je aan het vlees. Buiten in het zonnetje, op met kussens beklede houten banken, heb ik daar een fantastisch lekkere hertebout gegeten. Een aanrader!

[Repair] MySQL Upgrade on Mac OS X

Some time ago I did a MySQL upgrade without thinking ... that was not funny. So I retraced what I did to get the new version up and running and wrote it down as a sequence of steps to follow, when I need to upgrade to the next higher version.

ICSviewer 2.9

The ical/ics calendar file viewer ICS Viewer is updated to version 2.9.

What is new:
- New: Added an 'Export' feature, which exports to a .csv file.
- New: Added automatic save/restore of column checkboxes and decimal separator.
- New: Added column ATTENDEES.

What has changed:
- Moved LOCATION into its own column.
- No more rounding of hours. Hours are displayed with 2 decimals.
- Open and Save dialogs are now sheet windows on Mac OS X.
- When checking/unchecking columns or loading a new file, the chosen sort-column is now remembered.

Website dwangindezorg.nl en de andere waarheid

Onderstaande e-mail conversatie betreft deze webpagina: Aanvraag van een rechterlijke machtiging. Onder de kop 'Verzoek' staat dat 'In de wet staat welke betrokkenen hem kunnen vragen om dit te doen: ouders, echtgenoot, broers, zussen, opa, oma, kinderen, voogd, curator of mentor. De officier kan ook zelf een procedure starten.'.

Wij willen zelf deze aanvraag starten, dus hebben wij email gestuurd en gebeld met ons contact bij Rechtbank in Dordrecht, waar wij vorig jaar het mentorschap en de bewindvoering hebben gekregen, met het verzoek dit te starten. Zij begrepen echter niet waar het over ging - zij gaan enkel over mentorschap en bewind - en ook de BOPZ-afdeling aldaar kon er niets mee aanvangen. Het advies was: bel het Juridisch Loket.
Ook daar wisten ze niet hoe wij dat zelf kunnen doen en een adres van een Officier van Justitie o.i.d. kregen we niet. Toen landde ik op de website van de overheid voor meer info over het aanvragen van een rechterlijke machtiging. Zie hier onder ....

Het blijkt dus dat hij de indicatie gevaar moet krijgen: voor hemzelf of voor anderen. Eerder krijgen we geen rechterlijke machtiging.
Conclusie: verzorgingstehuizen zijn veredelde gevangenissen. Als je bewust in een stad chaos veroorzaakt, stuurt de rechter je linksaf naar de normale gevangenis. Als je chaos veroorzaakt omdat je dement bent, mag je rechtsaf naar een verzorgingstehuis.

Ik ga hier nu toch echt even te tijd voor nemen.

Uit uw mail blijkt dat wij als een beetje domme familie met een dementerende schoonvader worden weggezet. Wij kunnen zelfstandig lezen en zijn redelijk hoog opgeleid. Wij worden hier boos van. Wij zijn hier emotioneel bij betrokken, zoals ook blijkt uit onze reacties.

Wij hebben tot nu toe zoveel mogelijk zelf kunnen en mogen regelen rondom mijn schoonvader. Dat vinden wij fijn.
Dat is belangrijk omdat het om de laatste maanden of jaren gaat van zijn leven.
Wij weten als familie wat hij het fijnst zou vinden, wij kennen hem al zijn hele leven, ook als hij het zelf niet meer weet.

Wij begrijpen dat niet iedereen zo maar moet worden opgesloten, het is goed als er nauwkeurig over wordt gedacht.
De persoon wordt beschermd, maar nu wordt alles wel erg overtrokken.

Het gaat hier om een 86 jarige, die dement is. Er valt niks te erven en alles gaat waarschijnlijk op aan de verhuizing en schoon achter laten van zijn appartement.

Toen hij in zijn beginperiode van dementie, wij wisten het toen nog niet, voor de rechter moest komen omdat hij zijn rekeningen van het CAK niet meer betaalde, waren er ook geen beschermende maatregelen. Al zijn andere betalingen gingen automatisch.
Hij heeft zonder pardon toen van het CAK hele hoge boetes gekregen, totaal tegen de 3000 euro.

Niemand was er voor hem toen hij later meerdere malen werd gearresteerd en vastgezet omdat hij niet meer goed wist wat wel en niet hoorde.
Niemand heeft hem beschermd, wij wisten het niet, omdat hij het ons niet meer kon vertellen!

Beter stelt de overheid een protocol op dat als een 75 plusser wordt gearresteerd, terwijl er nog nooit een arrestatie is geweest, er verder wordt gekeken dan "O, weer een moeilijke klant in deze samenleving.".
Dat zou pas fijn zijn! Steek daar dan ook uw energie in.
Wij zijn ook niet de enige familie die dit overkomt. Mensonterende toestanden komen ons ter ore m.b.t. mensen met dementie die alleen thuiswonen.

Wat u schrijft is natuurlijk allemaal al gebeurd, er is al vastgesteld dat er sprake is van een artikel 60 BOPZ, anders kan ik de aanvraag bij de Officier van Justitie niet doen!
Omdat er op uw site stond dat wij dat zelf als familie en mentor een rechtelijke machtiging konden aanvragen, zijn wij nu op zoek naar de juiste weg.

Het is geen enkel probleem om de huisarts aan het werk te zetten, deze is, o.a., ook betrokken. Echter dachten wij dat wij de huisarts of de GGZ-arts het werk konden besparen, omdat wij alle informatie het afgelopen jaar al bij elkaar hebben verzameld en ook alle gesprekken met het CIZ hebben begeleid, samen met zorgbelang.nl, als onafhankelijk vertegenwoordiger voor mijn schoonvader.

Het CIZ heeft, nu al weer twee weken geleden, aan mijn vader, ernstig dement dus (wat door 5 verschillende en onafhankelijke professionals is geconstateerd - wat dat allemaal kost!), gevraagd "of hij wil worden opgesloten". Hij heeft uiteraard gezegd dat hij dat niet wil.
Echter kan hij niet meer voor zichzelf zorgen en handelen. Ook met hulp van zorgaanbieders, is alleen thuiswonen geen optie meer.

Hij is al ingeschreven bij een verzorgingstehuis waar hij vrij kan rondlopen en buiten kan komen, zonder dat hij daarbij een gevaar is voor zichzelf.
Er is een besloten tuin en een eigen appartement voor hem. Er is al plek voor hem, als dit dus allemaal niet zo lang zou duren….
Anders komt hij op een wachtlijst en kan het maanden duren voordat er daar weer een plek vrijkomt.

Daarom wilden wij graag snel een aanvraag indienen bij de Officier van Justitie, maar nu gaat het dus, zeker op deze manier, langer duren. Hoezo, participatie van de familie aanmoedigen?
Wij zijn al een jaar bezig om hem te kunnen plaatsen in een verzorgingstehuis. (Dat heeft dus wel een jaar verzorgingstehuis uitgespaard, dat wel).

De overheid neemt ook dit weer eens uit handen, terwijl dit toch al zo’n emotioneel proces is.
Nu worden er dus nóg meer externe partijen aan het werk gezet om mijn dementerende schoonvader een fijne plek te geven in een verzorgingstehuis.
Nog meer mensen komen bij hem thuis, terwijl hij er niks meer van begrijpt en geprikkeld raakt over al die mensen die bij hem langskomen. Hij raakt er tevens van in de war.
Hij snapt wel dat er iets aan de hand is, maar kan helaas niet meer begrijpen wat.

Ik moet toch echt zeggen dat vóór de bezuinigingen van de afgelopen jaren, het veel sneller en humaner ging.
Het lijkt er nu op dat deze vertragingen zijn aangebracht om er voor zorgen dat er kosten worden bespaard m.b.t. kosten verzorgingstehuizen. Het lijkt er ook op dat wij als familie gewoon moeten wachten tot hij weer zomaar valt en iets breekt, of de weg kwijt raakt, of eerder komt te overlijden. Of misschien wordt hij weer gearresteerd omdat hij zijn ontlasting op straat (en plein publique) achterlaat.

Het is een beetje raar om dan te lezen op uw site en in uw email dat wij het zelf kunnen regelen, en om dan te horen dat wij de aanvraag wel kunnen doen met alle juiste papieren, maar dat daarna blijkt dat het een zinloze actie is.
Tsja, dat is allemaal niet fijn, als je al zo’n beslissing moet nemen!

Fijn dat u de tekst heeft aangepast, ik zou het echter zo neerzetten dat er staat: "Men kan het wel zelf aanvragen als familie, echter wordt er niks meegedaan! Pas als één van de artsen, die de persoon reeds meerdere malen hebben onderzocht, een verzoek indienen, dan pas kan het worden geactiveerd dat de rechter bij hem thuis komt en hij een eigen advocaat krijgt".

Zoals de kantonrechter het zo mooi formuleerde toen ik het mentorschap kreeg: "Hij is slachtoffer van zijn eigen rechtspositie."

Affijn we zullen er wel niet uitkomen. De overheid deelt zijn kennis, echter in de uitvoering wordt er niet gecheckt of het wel mogelijk is wat men beweerd op de site van de overheid. Het papier is geduldig…..

Op 17 mei 2017, om 14:38 heeft Redactie Dwang in de zorg het volgende geschreven: Beste ..., Naar aanleiding van onderstaande mailwisseling wil ik u laten weten dat de tekst op de website is aangepast. Als directbetrokkene kunt u een verzoek indienen bij de officier van justitie voor een rechterlijke machtiging, maar de officier van justitie is niet verplicht om dat verzoek door te sturen naar de rechter. De officier beslist op basis van de geneeskundige verklaring of hij het verzoek voorlegt aan de rechter of niet. Dat was niet helemaal duidelijk in de tekst. Onze excuses daarvoor. Ik lees in uw mail dat het CIZ ook betrokken is bij dit verzoek. Als het gaat om opname in een verpleeghuis voor ouderen of een instelling voor gehandicaptenzorg, kan het CIZ ook een opname 'zonder instemming, zonder verzet' indiceren. Since I could not find a digitized version of good quality, I scanned the book myself.

Backgammon in MacForth 1986

In 1984, FORTH came to the first Macintosh as MacForth. I coded some apps with it in 1986/7 on a Macintosh and later on my Macintosh Plus.

From all the apps I wrote, I kept just one, as a paper source code listing : Backgammon , which I started coding in 1986 but never really finished.
So, for memory's sake, I publish it on my website so you and I can enjoy reading and looking at it, whilst thinking about the first days we had a fabulous MacPlus to work with. BTW, there's still some activity around FORTH on Github .

Note:
- Serial numbers are version independent, and thus remain valid for v6.

New:
- Get the elevation (in meters) of the Geo-location into GPSAltitude.
- GPSAltitude is saved into XMP:GPSAltitude.
- Moved the 'Comment' field into the first panel. It is still being filled with the address data from the 'Keywords and Geotag' panel.
- If you click Allow or Cancel when MacOS X asks for permission to access your Contacts, your choice is saved as a preference. This new setting can be found under the menu-option 'Preferences...'
- Moved the camera info fields into their own panel, named 'Camera'. These settings are still saved when you create a preset via the Artist popup menu.
- Added CameraLabel. This tag is filled with 'CameraMake, CameraModel'.
- Added LensMake and LensModel.
- Added LensInfo as 4 individual fields: MinFocalLength, MaxApertureAtMinFocal, MaxFocalLength and MaxApertureAtMaxFocal. These settings are also saved as Camera info when you create a preset via the Artist popup menu.

Fixed:
- GPSLongitude and GPSLatitude are now saved as is: positive or negative.
- GPSLongitude and GPSLatitude are now prefixed with the XMP: group, which was the only way to get the GPS-data into PNG images which Apple Preview will display in the Info-panel.
- GPS-data are written on a per-field basis, only if the individual fields contain data. For example, if you enter data in Latitude and leave the rest empty, only Latitude and LatitudeRef are written.

Install PHPMailer on MacOS X 10.11 El Capitan or higher

Installing PHPMailer on MacOS X 10.11.6 El Capitan or higher is not as straightforward as I thought because of the new MacOS X System Integrity Protection security where one is not allowed to install stuff in /usr anymore. Haworthia margaritifera (Aristata)

Some time ago I bought a pot with three the same cacti at ALDI. After some Googling this proved to be a Haworthia margaritifera, also known as Aristata. So no cactus. Various software updates (SetEXIFData, ICSViewer and HandbrakePM)

My three main apps are updated with new toolbar icons (if applicable) and now look great on HiDPI (Retina) displays.

New:
- When retrieving the date from the file name, you can now specify the time to use, if it's missing from the file's name, in the Date/Time fields. Also, if you process multiple photos with the same date immediately one after the other, you can use the Time interval fields to add or subtract hours/minutes/seconds or increment just the sequence number.
- You can now select an address from your Mac Contacts, via a pop-up menu to the right of the 'Geotag'-button, and then click on the 'Geotag'-button to get its GPS coordinates. When you select an address from the pop-up, it has precedence over entered Lat/Lon coordinates. Also, the checkbox 'Put address in comment' will automatically be checked, but can be manually unchecked.

Fixed:
- GPSLatitudeRef and GPSLongitudeRef are now also written. These values are needed while importing in, for example, Google Photos. Some of these photo-apps do not interpret postive GPS-values as default N and E.
- Interval time fields are enabled again after choosing the menu-option 'EXIF Dates or ...'.

- A pop-up menu with new choices: take the Finder's 'Date created' or 'Date modified' as the 'Date/Time original'.
- Moved the checkbox 'Retrieve Date/Time from file name' also into the new pop-up menu.
- Added an 'Auto-fill' checkbox next to 'Caption/Description', which also takes the filename and puts in the following (new) EXIF tags: Caption-Abstract, Description, ImageDescription, Title, XPSubject and XPTitle.
- 'Comment' is now also written to EXIF tag: XPComment.

Fixed:
- Preserve the File Modify Date/Time was ignored when renaming files.
- An endless loop was found when using a pattern with 'Retrieve Date/Time from file name' for which no more numbers were present.

Tiled Canal at the Palace of Queluz, Portugal

Last year we went to visit Lisbon and its surrounding environment.
That's where we found the Palace of Queluz ... what a history it has!

The most stunning part I found, was the tiled swimming pool - I think it must have been used as a swimming pool also, instead of being just a simple canal.
With the sun in my back, a made a series of photos of one side of the tiled interior and stitched them together with Photoshop to create a big 'panorama' so you can enjoy this wall in its entirety from anywhere .
Of course you really have to visit the palace to indulge in its beauty.

SetEXIFData 5.5

A new version of SetEXIFData, my GUI for exiftool by Phil Harvey, is now available:

Due to an updated code environment (latest Xojo and latest MBS plugins), a few changes were needed.

Removed:
- Show/Hide Info toolbar button is no more.
- The drawer-window used for previews is also gone. Xojo does not support these anymore.

New:
- Each preview now opens in its own window, which means you can now visually compare EXIF-data of multiple images at the same time. All preview windows are automatically closed when processing or starting over.

Fix:
- Increased the font size back to the system-default.
- The geo-tagging window doesn't close when 'Set startup' is clicked. Instead, the button is disabled. To set new startup coordinates, close and reopen the geo-tagging window.
- Implemented an improved map browser, which now uses webkit per default. It updates the map correctly while dragging or zooming.
 

Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook to Evernote

Bg fix in the Send E-Mail to Evernote script:

- Some splitting needed with multipart/alternative Base64-encoded e-mails.

Application Name in MacOS X
In MacOS X the application name, when running, was always 'Direct URL', regardless of the name of the website you gave the copy.
This has now been fixed. For Xojo coders who want to this too, see here for the solution: https://forum.xojo.com/37244-rename-app-on-open/

I have left the 'About' and 'Quit' menu-items untouched, so these still show 'About Direct URL' and 'Quit Direct URL'.
